My new toy: Canon Rebel T3

I have a really nice husband who does great things like buy me a shiny new camera to take pictures of our pretty babies with. This past weekend I got a Canon Rebel T3, just because he loves me. I'm a lucky girl. (Although, I think it may be partly because he's had his eye on a new set of golf clubs and he thinks I'll be less resistant if I'm preoccupied with my own hobby!)

Up until now I have been using a point and shoot that takes mediocre pictures. Usually, by the time it takes the picture, babies are crying or toddlers are running away and that hilarious/adorable/crazy moments is immortalized by... the back of a head.

I'm super excited to have a new fancy schmantzy camera to learn to use, not only take a picture of what I intended to, but maybe even a really good one! Aside from the joke of a photography class I took one semester in high school (I don't think playing cards in the darkroom accounts for much) I have no experience with a camera.  I think I'm going to have to do some web browsing and get a little crash-course on the subject so I can get familiar with it. The fun part about this camera is that until I can learn to change shutter speeds, lighting, and all the other things to make lovely pictures, I can set it to one of the many auto settings and get some pretty good pictures.

I haven't had much time to play with my new toy (since the husband has been at work and chasing around a toddler while feeding/changing/entertaining a baby doesn't leave much time to play with anything you don't want sticky hands on) but the brief photo shoot I did with my reluctant models produced these pictures:

Way better than the previous ones! There are so many settings and buttons- I'm excited to learn to use it all. I have a feeling the pictures will get better and better! (Especially once I learn to use editing software!)

Thanks, husband, for supporting yet another of my hobbies!

Easy Peasy Tee Shirt Dress

And for my next trick, I will turn this tee shirt into a dress!

While browsing the clearance table at Target I came across this tee for $1. I couldn't pass up a bargain like that, so I bought it (and a pink one just like it) in hopes of turning it into something pretty for the babe to wear.

When nap time rolled around today I put the monsters children down, pulled this lovely fabric quarter out of my stash, and got to sewing! This is a very simple sewing project that can easily be completed in a short amount of time. (Which is definitely how I would describe the lengths of nap times these days. Sigh.)
