We have eggs!

After four months and one week of feeding and caring for our flock we were rewarded with our first egg! Since there are so many of them it is hard to say who laid the first egg, but I'm giving credit to my lap chicken because she has been the biggest out of the chickens for some time. (And I may be biased towards her.)

Our First Egg

The eggs are tiny right now but are coming in a few a day in various sizes and shades of brown.

We have learned that some of our chickens are very vocal while laying! When the girls hear the noises coming from the coop now they race out to see if there is an egg. It has become quite the event!

The fun thing with free range chickens has been stumbling upon an egg laid outside the coop. I hope we can get them all laying in the nesting boxes so everyday isn't an Easter egg hunt! They have been laying for just over a week and so far we have collected 21 eggs. Hopefully we will have full size eggs soon and will be able to start sharing with our friends and neighbors!
