monkey food

It's been a raining all day today which left me with a broken hearted child. Amelia stood in the kitchen chair, staring out the window at the swing Daddy just hung in the tree, begging me to go outside. I offered her a snack in hopes of focusing her attention elsewhere but she snubbed my banana and told me "monkey eats that." She then insisted her snack be the chocolate chips she found in the pantry. As a compromise we came up with "monkey food," chocolate dipped bananas and peanut butter.

Ingredients (makes approximately 8 treats):
2 bananas
1 cup chocolate chips
1 tbs butter
1/4 cup peanut butter
sprinkles
popsicle sticks

Cut bananas into 1/4 inch slices.
Place small amount of peanut butter on all but
8 slices of banana.

Starting with a plain slice of banana, begin stacking
them onto your popsicle stick until you have four
slices on it. Repeat with additional sticks until all
your bananas are stacked.

Smooth peanut butter into the space between the
bananas and place onto a cookie sheet. Put them in
the freezer for thirty minutes to allow them to set up.

Place chocolate chips and butter in a microwave safe
bowl. Heat for 30 seconds and stir. Heat in additional
10 second intervals until the chips are smooth and melted.

Dip each stick into the chocolate and cover it entirely.
Use a spoon or knife to smooth it out and remove
any excess chocolate.

Shake on some sprinkles and place back into the
freezer for at least an hour.

Enjoy!
